Microsoft Soon to Develop Kinect Hardware for Windows
Microsoft has recently come up with an exciting announcement that they are going to develop new Kinect hardware which will be specifically designed for the Windows based PCs. Just a few weeks back, Microsoft introduced a Kinect meant for the Windows commercial program, which is to be launched in the earlier part of 2012. The news imbues excitement as till now there hasn’t been any new hardware specifically designed for the computers.
This new hardware is said to be built on the already existing Kinect which is used for the Xbox 360 hardware. However, there are some improvements made to some of the hardware components as well as firmware. Among the changes made, the basic ones are shorter USB cable that confirms the reliability through quite a wide range of systems, then there’s a small dongle which perfectly fits on the other side of the other USB devices present in the I/O panel of your computer.
The camera is upgraded to such a level that it will be possible to see the objects by a 50mm distance through the lens with remarkable accuracy and proper precision. In fact, one can try capturing the objects at 40mm however this degrades the picture a bit. This new feature is named as “Near Mode” by Microsoft and it is even believed that it will be providing an entirely new range of “close up” applications that crosses the frontiers of basic living room panorama with which the gamers are well accustomed as they have been using it on the Xbox 360.
The company believes that the Kinect will open a wider opportunity for them as it will be well integrated into several of the daily activities of the companies across the globe. It is in a deal with NUI or Natural User Interfaces as a result of which customers of the Kinect for Windows commercial program with license will get access to all the time to time updates taking place in speech as well as human tracking from the company.
Notably, Microsoft has even come up with a Kinect Accelerator incubation project in the recent times. This project from the company is going to work like a think tank for several such initiatives that look forward to have Kinect as a part of their work environment.
This project has already given an opportunity to 10 technology-based companies to invest $20, 000 individually just in order to have their ideas included. Any interested individual or groups has got an opportunity to submit their application by January 25, 2012. The selected individuals or groups will get to present their product at the end of the program on the Investor Demo Day.
