Does logo mean a lot, or they are just tiny graphics that have nothing more than merely representing a company? Well, for Microsoft it’s like an entire brand thing as the company has come up with a brand new logo for its upcoming Windows 8 operating system.

So, you’ll get the new logo along with the new operating system namely Windows 8 which will be out in the market later this year. Finally, you’ll be saying goodbye to the multicolored flag like logo and get a blocky, blue colored logo which truly looks like a window.

This logo has been designed by a firm called Pentagram. Sam Moreau, the Principal Director of User Experience for Windows at Microsoft has even mentioned in his blog that this new log is more suitable to the OS compared to the older logo that had been around since 90’s. He used the terms “Metro style design principles” and “beautiful metaphor” for describing the new logo.
The agency firm Pentagram designed this new logo as they are believed to be confused over the last logo, they simply couldn’t believe why a product called Windows had a logo displaying multi colored flag.

Moreau’s blog further read, “The Windows logo is a strong and widely recognized mark but when we stepped back and analyzed it, we realized an evolution of our logo would better reflect our Metro style design principles and we also felt there was an opportunity to reconnect with some of the powerful characteristics of previous incarnations.”
